Weaning. . .

. . . and not too happy about it.  At least it gives me more opportunities to practice drinking from my new sippy cup!

Other news:

  • Why does Daddy (and Mommy) insist on cutting my fingernails?
  • I'm climbing into and back out of my buzzy chair like a polished veteran -- despite practicing this maneuver for the first time today!
  • New on the menu:  Raspberries!
  • Daddy holding shiny object(s) = BAIT.  Daddy calling my name, asking for affection = REPELLENT.

Laughter is the Best Medicine.

I've smiled.  I've giggled.  I've chuckled.  Now, all-out laughter is making an appearance. . . and it's music to everyone's ears.

Other News:

  • New on the menu:  Blackberries!!
  • I'm taking some mighty big steps (and twisting and turning a lot) as I cruise around the living room furniture!

Recovery and Reaquainting with Bella.

I slept until 8:30 this morning.  Whether it was because I was still on mountain time, because of the "black out" shades that Mommy installed or because I felt that it was time to begin sleeping 12+ hours per night, Mommy was speechless and thrilled.

NYC Via Chicago.

Today was another long one as The Family returned home from Denver.  Lucky for me, the plane from Chicago to NYC was not filled to capacity (imagine that!) and I was able to kick back in my own seat.  Without that extra space to move around, I may have been a bit too antsy for The Parents to handle. . .

Once home, my priorities were rest, food and BELLA!  I'm looking forward to getting back into the swing of things tomorrow after I've had a good night's sleep. . .

The Lovely and The Lemon.

Today I took on my first lemon. . . and won, but not without a few funky facial expressions along the way.  (You'll LOVE the video!)

Other news:

  • New Foods:  Aside from "taste o' lemon," I enjoyed Kiwi!
  • Apparently, my new pal is Goofy.  Mommy found me snuggling with him when I woke up this morning.  Furthermore, when she put me down for my morning nap, I immediately grabbed Goofy and went to sleep without a peep (last line inspired by Dr. Seuss).
  • Grandma and I accompanied The Parents to Boulder, CO and LOVED it.  I can see myself being very happy here. . . if the opportunity arises in the future. . .
  • Sadly, we dropped Grandma Lepere off at the airport this evening, but not before we were able to capture a great picture of her, Mommy and me.

Day Two With Grandma Lepere.

While Mommy and Daddy explored (and became enthralled with) Boulder, Colorado this morning/afternoon, I enjoyed another great day with Grandma.

Other News:

  • This climbing down the stairs-thing is becoming a joke, it's so easy.  (Not really, but I am getting much better at it!)
  • "Da" is becoming a regular word in my vocabulary. . . especially when I'm trying to get Daddy's attention.  He's thrilled.August_15_2008_012

Day One With Grandma Lepere.

For the first time ever, Mommy and Daddy both spent a portion of the day away from me.  The Parents went to Denver to explore it and it's neigborhoods.  I stayed home and played with Grandma.  I think "being away" was much harder on The Parents than it was on me 'cuz, frankly, I had a blast.  The best part was seeing them when they came home.  I raced toward them (particularly Mommy) and giggled with delight at their presence.

Other news:

  • I displayed the ability to differentiate between "things I want."  Mommy and I were in Diane's living room.  Mommy asked me, "Which toys do you want to play with?"  I crawled past the toys directly in front of me, through the master bedroom into the bathroom, stood by the gigantic bathtub and pointed to my cups and rubber duckies. . . those toys I wanted to play with (and that I hadn't seen since my bath last night).
  • I took a 3 hour, 45 minute nap this morning.  Apparently, completely dark, silent rooms combined with fresh Colorado air does something for me. . .
  • Like a baby bird, I ate chicken that Daddy offered to me directly from his lips.  I was so happy with chicAugust_14_2008_003ken that I couldn't help but give him a big, wet kiss.

Colorado Bound.

LONG, but enjoyable day today as we woke up at 4am so The Family could travel to Denver, Colorado.

Today's Tidbits:

  • I fell asleep in Mommy's lap twice -- once on the flight from NYC to Chicago, the second time from Chicago to Denver.  The Parents were amazed and agreed that I figured out the perfect time to learn (and perfect) this skill. (I think the other passengers appreciated it too!)
  • Hello Grandma Lepere!  It's great to see her again because she gives such big hugs and kisses!
  • The Rocky Mountains are beautiful!
  • There is A LOT of flat land between Chicago and Denver.
  • Special thank you to Daddy's friend Diane who let us stay in her huuuuuggggggeeeee house.  I couldn't ask for more in terms of opportunities to explore!
  • This is the day I began learning how to climb down the stairs (under close supervision, of course).

Synchronized Peeing. . .

Bella and I put on a Gold Medal performance. . . unfortunately, I was on Mommy's back when it happened.

Aren't these size 4 diapers supposed to catch everything?

We had a good laugh over it. . .

Other news:

  • Note my new skill of climbing onto the furniture.  Looks like The Parents are going to have to childproof yet another level of the house.
  • I voluntarily dunked my face into my bath water this evening. . .  I think I'm gonna wait awhile before I try that again.

Snuggle With Me.

Have a drink with me.  Come and play with me.  Whatever you choose, I'll love it!
